What is positive reinforcement?.. Natural Enhancers. Token boosters. Social reinforcements. Tangible reinforcers

Positive reinforcement:

Positive reinforcement refers to the use of a desirable or gentle stimulus after a good behavior, so that the desired stimulus reinforces this positive behavior, which increases the likelihood of the child repeating this behavior, and it is the positive parenting method of rewarding the natural tendencies towards good behavior in children.

Positive reinforcement and positive punishment have always been coping strategies in training and education alike. Positive punishment involves removing the positive stimulus or stimulus to discourage a certain behavior and training the child not to do it again.

Types of positive reinforcement:

We can talk about the four types of positive reinforcement, which are:

Natural Enhancers:

Occur directly as a result of the behavior.

Token boosters:

Those that are awarded for the child's performance of certain behaviors, and can be exchanged for something of value that the child appreciates.

Social reinforcements:

Those that involve others expressing approval of the behavior, such as approving good behavior and telling your child, "Good job!" or "Excellent job!".

Tangible reinforcers:

They are actual material rewards such as: money, toys, and candy.
The effectiveness of the reinforcer depends on the context of the child's positive action or behavior. Natural positive reinforcement is often the most effective, but social positive reinforcement can be very powerful.

However, token positive reinforcement is more useful with children, eg pinning a gold star to each of your children who obey the rule of watching television for only an hour after lunch.
