Benefits of breastfeeding for mother and child.. Strengthening immunity and preventing diseases

Breastfeeding:

Breastfeeding carries great benefits for the mother and the child in a joint way, as doctors advise women who want to lose weight to breastfeed their children, as this helps to lose 500 calories when breastfeeding per day.

Benefits of breastfeeding for mother and child:

  • Breastfeeding helps return the uterus to its normal size and reduce postpartum bleeding.
  • Breastfeeding helps protect the mother from osteoporosis and type 2 diabetes and reduces the risk of ovarian and breast cancer.
  • Continuous breastfeeding is also a natural contraceptive method, thus protecting the mother from the complications of taking birth control pills, injections or IUDs.
  • As for the benefits of breastfeeding for the child, it reduces the risk of developing asthma, obesity, diabetes and other chronic diseases and cancer. It also makes children smarter and has stronger immunity. It is worth noting that breast milk is sterile and does not contain microbes, thus reducing the incidence of gastroenteritis that usually affects children who are bottle-fed.
  • Mother's milk contains an adequate amount of proteins and sugar completely, while the proteins found in the milk of cows, sheep and buffaloes are indigestible on the child's stomach because they are designed to suit the children of those animals.
  • In the end, we must know that the psychological and emotional connection between the mother and her child during breastfeeding is one of the most important benefits that accrue to the mother and child from breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding duration:

For the first 6 months of the child’s life, it is necessary to rely on breast milk only without the use of artificial milk, juices, herbs, or even drinking water as long as the mother’s milk is sufficient and the child is growing at a normal rate, then continue breastfeeding in addition to introducing some other foods until at least the first year from the age of the child. It is preferable to continue until two years as long as the child and the mother are in good health.

Tips for postpartum women:

  • Do not do any physical effort during the postpartum period.
  • Note the amount of lochia if it is within the normal range. In the first week it is light red, then dark red, then brown, and gradually decreases within two weeks.
  • If the bleeding continues for more than two or three weeks, contact your doctor immediately.
  • You can shower standing up, not in the bathtub (be careful).
  • Do not neglect the basics of personal hygiene, and make sure to cleanse the vulva area and wounds with an antiseptic solution - such as Dettol - at the rate of one tablespoon in a liter of water twice a day, and use sterile towels.
  • In the event of constipation, you should eat fresh vegetables and fruits, do light exercise, and take a laxative.
  • Do not be disturbed by the uterine prolapse, and if it is severe, it can be removed with analgesic medications.
  • Keep taking the temperature daily and note the pulse.
  • It is wrong to lie still in bed and not move. Today, doctors recommend walking immediately after childbirth and going to the rest room.
  • Persist in practicing the exercises for this stage, and you can start from the next week after giving birth.
  • Food should be varied and rich in calcium, vitamins and proteins.
