Types of pneumococcal vaccines .. Part of the external wall of the bacteria is combined with a special protein extracted from the bacteria diphtheria. The outer wall of the bacteria is known as the polycystic vaccine

There are two types of pneumococcal vaccines. Each is given as a syringe in the muscle.
Type I: a modern vaccine containing part of the external wall of the bacteria combined with a special protein extracted from the bacteria diphtheria and known as the vaccine (PCV7) Pneumococcal Vaccine 7 Valent. The PCV7 vaccine covers the seven most common types of pneumococcal bacteria in children. It is characterized by its unique ability to stimulate the immune system in children under the age of two years to secrete a large amount of antibodies to the types of pneumococcal bacteria in the vaccine with a protection rate of more than 90%. It is given to children under five years.
Type II: an old vaccine extracted from the outer wall of the bacteria and known as polysaccharide pneumococcal vaccine Vaccine PPV. The vaccine can provide acceptable protection from infection caused by 23 types of pneumococcus, but it is limited in children under two years of age because it can not stimulate the secretion of antibodies in this age group of children. It is recommended for children with spleen, dysfunction, sickle cell anemia, chronic heart disease, kidneys or lungs, or children with any immune deficiency disorder. It can be given as a supportive dose of the PCV7 vaccine. It is given to children after the age of two.
