Types of oral polio vaccine and non - activated virus

There are two types of paralysis vaccine:
- Inactivated polio vaccine (I P V), a dead viral vaccine given by intramuscular injection.
- Oral polio vaccine (OPV), a live viral vaccine, but weakened, given two oral deficiencies.
Both types give effective immunity against the disease. Oral vaccine can rarely cause paralysis in some HIV-positive children and in some healthy children by one per 10 million doses. A child suffering from a lack of immune system may have polio after contact with a child who has received the oral vaccine. If there is an immunosuppressive in the child or in one of his siblings, the non-active vaccine should be used for the whole family.
