Protein Diet or Atkins Diet:
This type of diet is known in the seventies and depends on the intake of large amounts of proteins such as meat and eggs with a few starches such as bread, rice, macaroni or potatoes. Weight loss is good at first (almost six kilograms in the first two weeks) but unfortunately it is loss of water and not fat.
This type of protein-based diet causes an abnormal metabolism of the body called ketosis, which means the use of proteins to produce energy as an alternative to starches, leading to the formation of ketones.
This protein-based diet can also lead to changes in fat cells as they grow in size, leading to fat accumulation once a person stops dieting.
In addition, the intake of large amounts of protein leads to mood change, resulting in an urgent desire to eat carbohydrates and foods high in fat. On the contrary, when the diet contains sufficient amounts of carbohydrates, which leads to a high proportion of Serotonin (Serotonin) in the brain, which improves mood and reduces appetite.
A study of 40 obese women with a long history of dieting found that those who had a diet of 1,400 calories a day derived from many starches and few proteins for several weeks lost a better body temperament and greater ability to overcome the urge to eat. Compared to those who underwent a diet of 1400 calories per day derived from many proteins and a few carbohydrates.
