Polio is a serious disease that can affect children by drinking water or eating contaminated with polio. The disease can damage the nerves and paralyze the person the rest of his life and can lead to death. As a result of compulsory polio vaccination, the disease has disappeared from developed countries and there is a WHO plan to eradicate the disease from all over the world through periodic campaigns to vaccinate children under the age of five in developing countries where the disease is still in effect.
